Grain Classification and Grading Based on Fourier Descriptor

Published in |

Abstract

Visual inspection is commonly used to assure food quality. But for tiny food products like grains, inspection is difficult. For grain quality, it is desired to automate the inspection process for consistency, accuracy and speed. Thus, a method for automating grain inspection is proposed to classify good quality grains from defective grains. This paper presents a method for model-based shape classification which uses Fourier descriptor.

F.M. Moncada is an undergraduate student taking up B.S. Computer Science.
