Real-time Video Analysis
Announcing the offering of Real-time Video Analysis (CMSC 191: Special Topic) for the 1st Semester 2008-2009.
Description
The course is an introduction to digital image processing with special emphasis on real-time processing of image sequences directly coming from camera hardware. This image sequence is a large river of data, requiring very efficient methods that can process the data faster than its arrival.
The topics in the course include:
- Introduction to digital image and video processing
- Video enhancement and noise reduction
- Real-time event detection
- Real-time object tracking
- Performance optimization techniques
- Multiple-camera processing and its applications
- Commercial applications of smart cameras
The students will be able to use computers fitted with Nuegent Technology's 8-channel video capture card, allowing simutaneous image capture from multiple cameras. Students will work on exercises and individual projects, which can provide ideas for their Special Problem.
