Dr. Eliezer A. Albacea of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS) has been elected an Academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology, it was announced by the NAST on May 29.

Dr. Albacea will be invested into the Academy on July 13 during its 28th Annual Scientific Meeting at the Manila Hotel.

The NAST, an advisory body to the Office of the President on science and technology, counts among its members some of the most eminent scientists of the country. National scientists are chosen from its ranks.

Dr. Albacea finished BS Statistics (cum laude) at UPLB, MSc in Computing Science (with honors) at the University of Wollongong, and PhD in Computer Science at the Australian National University. Her served as the first director of ICS.
