SMACS 2006: 3rd Symposium on Mathematical Aspects of Computer Science

Call for Participation/Papers

16-20 October 2006
Adventists University of the Philippines
Silang, Cavite

About the Symposium

SMACS 2006 is the third meeting on the mathematical aspects of computer science that will be held in the Philippines organized by the Computing Society of the Philippines. The first was in 1997 (UPCB), the second was in 2004 (UP-Baguio).

The symposium is divided into two parts: a workshop and a seminar.

The workshop will run for three days and will consist of lectures on fundamental areas of computer science which are mathematical in character. The lectures will be synoptic and tutorial in nature and will cover topics from courses that are sometimes offered as upper division undergraduate courses. This year's tentative topics are: Automata and Formal Language Theory, Algorithms and Complexity, Graph Theory and Combinatorics, and Problem Solving.

The seminar will be held in the last two days. It will consist of paper presentations on researches in the mathematical aspects of computer science. There will be invited talks on the current and still potent area of mathematical aspects of computer science.

SMACS provides a venue for teachers, researchers and graduate students of Computer Science, Computing, and Mathematics to share and upgrade knowledge on areas of Computer Science which are mathematical or theoretical in character.

Submission and Proceedings:

Paper to be submitted must be written in English and must be at most 12 pages including title page; if appropriate, proofs should be attached in an appendix. We highly recommend electronic submission using the SMACS submission webpage (http://www.aup.edu.ph/aolis/smacs2006 Webmaster Note: This site, a geocities.com site, has a data transfer limitation. This site will be down once AUP has reached its data transfer limit).

Proceeding of the Seminar will be available during the Symposium. Selected papers from the symposium will be published in a special issue of the Official journal of the Computing Society of the Philippines.

Location:

The lectures will take place at Adventists University of the Philippines at Silang, Cavite. The campus is located very near Tagaytay City.
Tagaytay City is known for its cool weather and the view of Taal Volcano.
